Nerdiness

I've been trying to think all week about what would have made me become as big of a nerd as I am now and I think the answer is when I became obsessed with dogs when I was around six. Now, I know lots of kids like animals and that really isn't a nerdy thing but I made it into one. In elementary school, I checked out EVERY book on dog breeds and learned all I could about breed standards and practiced identifying dog breeds. It was very intense...

I don't think this in itself is very nerdy but I think it got me into the mindset of being extremely nerdy. After dogs, everything I liked was this intense. If I liked something, I needed to know absolutely everything about it. So when I read HP, I obviously became obsessed and needing to start theorizing and listening to MuggleCast religiously and going to cons.

I think being a nerd is the greatest thing ever and I love every minute of it because, John Green is right, being a nerd basically just means that you like stuff and you're allowed to love it a lot.
