I really liked this idea Ariel wrote about with the "possible shelves" of our personality. I believe that a lot of who I am is because of different people/characters I admire so it'll be interesting to see all the traits I believe I have taken from others. So I'll divide my "possible shelves" by Real People and Fictional Characters.
Real People:
-Kelly Clarkson: I've said many many times that I adore her but exactly what I have really looked up to is her total lack of caring about what others believe she should be. For so long I have tried to be what everyone believes I "should be" and that just is dumb. Kelly doesn't care about being anyone but herself and I have really taken that quality to heart.
-Carrie Underwood: There was a magazine interview a while back where they asked her what she wanted to buy with all the money she's making and she mentioned a piano, but said they're expensive and when the interviewer was like "psh you're Carrie freakin Underwood! You can afford it!" Carrie answered by saying "what if this all goes away tomorrow and I don't have enough?" That attitude of being grateful yet never feeling like you should expect things to stay as great is something I've taken from her.
-J.K. Rowling: To never give up. We all know how much HP has brought to our lives and if Jo had taken a look at her life and thought what's the point, none of it would have happened. I thank god everyday Jo never gave up on herself and I believe I have that same strength to do what I believe I can accomplish.
Fictional Characters:
-Hermione: Especially in Goblet of Fire. I'm not the prettiest girl ever and I don't try. I have her attitude with teh Yule Ball in my life where if I want, I can do it and I'd look as pretty as the other girls at school but just what's the point? I'd much rather read than straighten my hair...
-Holland: Holland is from the book Keeping You a Secret by Julie Anne Peters. Hers is the same as Kelly which is pretty much deciding my own path and not allowing others to sway me.
-Snape: I think this thing is making me sound a little better than I am. I'll always make mistakes, but if I do I will fight to the end to correct them. Snape is the best example I could think of with that by risking his life to correct what he had done; though, I would not be so snarky and bitter during the process XD
-Fred and George: Everything in life is an amazing joke, even losing your ear!
-Spencer Carlin: This is from the TV show South of Nowhere. Spencer was shy and didn't really speak up until it was something she truly believed in and I consider myself the same way.
This was kinda fun. It actually made me think a lot about myself and what I take from evrything in my life. Through all this though, I believe I am still myself but these are teh qualities I strive to fully achieve. I have moments where I'm not anything like what I wish I was but I'm always willing to work at changing and becoming the best me I can be.
[/cheesy post] And thanks Ariel for the idea =]
